More Than 900 Attend 10th Annual Salute the Stars

The John Lynch Salute the Stars luncheon took place on Wednesday, May 7th at INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium and more than 900 people turned out to assist John and Linda Lynch in recognizing local Denver student-athletes.

The event is designed to recognize students who excel in the classroom, on the field and in the community. A veriety of awards are presented to student-athletes in the categories listed below.

Keynote Speaker Dan Hawkins, Head Football Coach, University of Colorado, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter,business and community leaders, teachers, coaches, and student-athletes and their families were in attendance.

The Salute the Stars awards luncheon is made possible by the following sponsors: Sports Authority, the Ann and John J. Sie Foundation, the Diecidue Family Foundation, IQNavigator, Capstar Holdings, and Bank of America Securities.

Star of the Year - Trophy and $250 Sports Authority Gift Card

Exceptional Star of the Year, presented by the Anna and John J. Sie Foundation - $5,000 award

Coach of the Month

The Coach of the Month recognizes youth coaches who make a profound impact in the lives of their athletes and are chosen based on:

• Coaching accomplishments

• Inspirational and motivational attributes

Youth coaches (18 and under) can be nominated by parents or athletes. Awards are presented October – April and nominations can be filled out each month by clicking on the link below. In May a Coach of the Year will be selected out of all of the monthly winners. The Coach of the Year award winner will be announced at the Salute the Stars awards luncheon.

Coaches of the Month will Receive

• $100 Sports Authority gift card

• Autographed John Lynch football

• Personalized jersey of their choice from Sports Authority

• Recognition on JLF website

• Recognition at Star of the Month program at Dove Valley

• Sports Authority Coach’s Kits and coupons
