John Lynch

John Lynch is a retired NFL safety. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1993, where he played for 11 seasons. In 2002, Lynch collected a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XXXVII with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in San Diego. He was the first player to wear a microphone in the Super Bowl.

Hannah Harm

Star of the Year 2011 - Euclid Middle School

Hannah is 4.0 honors student, a member of the National Honors Society, and represented Euclid in the Optimist Brain Bowl. Athletically, Hannah participates in Water Polo and is on the Olympic Development team, as well as being a member of as her school’s Track, Basketball and Volleyball teams. In the community, Hanna has been active in her interest in caring for the environment and endangered species and was even published on the US Fish and Wildlife’s website and volunteers at her church.

James Hueston

Star of the Year 2011 - Morey Middle School

Academically James is a 7th grader taking 8th grade classes. Athletically James participates in Hockey, Flag Football and Cross Country and was the only runner to win each individual event this year. In he community James has donated his money earned being a certified babysitter to The Food Bank of the Rockies, and to Morey Middle School Intersession Fund to help students who needed scholarship money for trips or activities.

Katie Wiese

Star of the Year 2011 - Denver East High School

Katie is currently #1 in her class on a non wieghted scale. Katie is Captain of the Volleyball team and is a 3 time all-league performer as a middle hitter in volleyball and is currently among the state leaders in kills and blocks. Katie is a member of many community minded clubs at East including: Key Club(secretary), National Honor Society (officer), and coaches a variety of little league teams in baseball and volleyball.

Garrett Lee

Star of the Year 2011 - Heritage High School

Garret is an AP and Honor student, is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the Academic High Honor Roll throughout high school. Athletically Garrett is a Captain and four time state qualifier in Cross Country earning All League and All State honors and is on the school’s Wall of Fame. He is also Captain of the Track team. In the community, Garret is a four year member of the Unified Eagles Basketball team working with handicapped basketball players, he is a mentor through the Link Program, and gives back through many other volunteer opportunities.

Marlie Fisher

Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship Winner 2011 - Grandview High School, Attending Univeristy of Colorado Honors Program

Marlie was the valedictorian of senior class, while taking AP classes. Competes in golf and is the #1 golfer on the golf team. Marlie works with the First Tee golf program introducing the sport to young at-risk youth. She is president of many clubs and organizations and believes in service above self.

Brad Goldsberry

Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship Winner 2011 - Elzabeth High School, Attending MIT

Brad was ranked #1 in his graduating class, carried a 4.0 unweighted GPA, and was president of the NHS. He will be majoring in Bioengineering. First Team All State in both baseball and football as well as being captain of both teams. Created a literacy program that linked high school athletes with an at-risk elementary school.

Larry Giles

Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship Winner 2011 - Abraham Lincoln High School, Attending

Larry is a honors student who has overcome many challenges. He plays football, baseball, basketball and track. He was selected All-State in Football. Larry gives back to his community in a variety of ways, including spending time at a food bank for Aids patients. Larry was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3.

Kaitlynn Tripp

Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship Winner 2011 - Golden High School, Attending Colorado School of Mines

Kaitlyn is an AP and Honors student who will be majoring in engineering and has a genuine love of learning. Athletically, she participates in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse. She was a late starter in all sports, but quickly excelled to become captain of her teams. Kaitlyn has also been a competitive drag racer since she was 9 years old. She is involved in Girls Scouts and Venture Scouts and gives back to her community through working with developmentally challenged students at a local elementary school. Kaitlyn lives by the motto ‘pay it forward’ and it shows.

Tyler Warner

Exceptional Star of the Year Award 2011 - Monarch High School

Tyler is a 4.0 student and loves Spanish. Tyler has cerebral palsy on the right sight, and also fought cancer as a newborn baby. Ski’s on competitive ski team, plays soccer on a competitive team and on the US Paralympic soccer team. He also runs cross country at his high school. Tyler has gone on various mission trips and volunteers around his school and church. He wants to be a missionary in a different country working with youth ministry.

Connor Long

Exceptional Star of the Year Award 2011 - Fairview High School

Connor is a great student and excels in Math. Connor loves sports and excels in swimming and swims for the Special Olympics. He also participates in basketball and soccer. Connor has a huge heart and gives back to his community in many ways.

Brickelle Bro

Exceptional Star of the Year Award 2011 - Rocky Heights Middle School

Brickelle has excellent grades and is very involved in school. Brickelle is a bilateral congenital amputee (born without her legs). She is an avid swimmer, and participates in Paralympic swimming, competing in the mile or 500. She loves to bike ride, walk, and hang out with friends.

Kathleen English

Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship Winner 2011 - Conifer High School

Kathleen has received the special education academic achievement award and is on the honor roll at Conifer. She has been trained as an official Global Messenger for Special Olympics Colorado. Kathleen has been an active athlete with Special Olympics for 8 years competing in a variety of sports including basketball, bowling, skiing, golf and track and field. Kathleen has helped plan and organize a variety of initiatives with her Unified Peer Partners at Conifer including awareness events for the “R-word” campaign, and youth rallies encouraging her fellow peers to get involved.

Tommy Dowd

Coach of the Year 2011 - Wheat Ridge High School

Tommy has been teaching and coaching for 25 years in Jefferson County. He is head coach of boys basketball, boys and girls golf, and an assistant football coach. He believes the success of a high school program begins in the community and requires his student-athletes to give back to their communities. He has made a difference in the lives of so many youth throughout the years. Tommy has organized an annual golf tournament fundraiser for a student-athlete who died in a car accident.

Scott Yates

Coach of the Year 2011 - Kent Denver School

Scott has been the head football coach for 30 years and has also served as Dean of Students, Athletic Director, and coached various other sports. He truly cares for each of the students he has coached and instills in them lessons of moral courage, teamwork and a willingness to commit to a worthy goal.
