Making Spirits Bright

On December 16 the John Lynch Foundation hosted the 2009 Lynch's Christmas Party with the Boys & Girls Clubs at Prima Ristorante, in downtown Denver. Ten very deserving underprivileged youth were invited to attend this special evening which included a surprise visit from Santa (bearing gifts!), a delicious three course meal, and a trip to see the Christmas classic, The Nutcracker.

Through this event the John Lynch Foundation was able to make Christmas wishes come true for a group of children. The Foundation worked closely with Boys & Girls Club directors to identify children who would not otherwise have received a traditional Christmas and then secretly gathered wish lists from each of the children.

As the children arrived they worked on letters to soldiers to show their appreciation for all they do to protect our company.  The children ordered from a custom designed menu and enjoyed their 'fancy' dinners. As they were finishing their desserts, Santa arrived and had a special delivery for each child.

One by one the children were called up to sit on Santa's lap, pose for a picture with Santa and John, and get their gift bag.  As the presents were opened the room was filled with squeals of delight, surprise and excitement.  The children received the specific items they had wished for including tennis shoes, games, clothes, athletic equipment, dolls, books, etc..

This was the 13th Annual Lynch Christmas Party and to date the Foundation has made spirits bright for more than 300 youngsters.

The 13th Annual Salute the Stars awards luncheon was held on Tuesday, May 3rd at INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium in front of a record crowd.  Broncos QB Tim Tebow and Broncos first round draft pick, Von Miller joined John and Linda Lynch in honoring student-athletes and providing scholarships.

The event was held on the field and more than 1,000 people attended to assist the John Lynch Foundation in recognizing what is 'right' with our youth today.  The student-athletes who were honored, each who excel in academics, athletics and community involvement, were escorted onto the field by the Denver Broncos cheerleaders and Miles the mascot.

During the awards presentation John asked Tim and Von to help him pass out the awards to the various winners.   Afterwards, the two rising Broncos stars took place in a Question and Answer session, moderated by John Lynch win which guests were able to ask the players questions of their own.  John presented Tim with the 2011 Leadership Legend Award for his numerous efforts through the Tim Tebow Foundation, including his missionary work.

There was a silent auction at the luncheon and all guests had an opportunity to pass, punt and kick on the field after the event. The Lynches also hosted a VIP Reception at their home the evening before the event on Monday, May 2nd for high level sponsors which included entertainment by Phil Long and an exciting live auction.

Most importantly, those in attendance were profoundly impacted by the many examples of what is 'right' with our youth. The many stories of leadership, dedication, and determination in these youngsters, including some with disabilities who face extreme challenges every day, inspired all.

To date the John Lynch Foundation has awarded $371,000 in scholarships to 77 high school seniors and has awarded $55,000 in awards to student-athletes with special needs.  This year's event was the most successful to date as it generated more than $275,00 which will go to fund and sustain the Foundation's youth programs in Denver.
